JUSTIN (JUNG TAE) KIM
I am currently pursuing a doctoral degree in the Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering Department at UCLA under the supervision of Prof. Yuzhang Li. I have over four years of experience developing next-generation battery systems (Li-S, Li metal, all-solid-state) for applications in grid-scale energy storage, flexible electronic devices, and high performance electric vehicles. My current research is primarily focused on leveraging advanced characterization techniques, including cryogenic electron microscopy (Cryo-EM) , to gain deeper insights into the operational mechanisms and failure modes of Li metal batteries. The overarching goal of my research is to utilize newly gained insights as a foundation for identifying innovative engineering solutions that can effectively enhance overall battery performance.Â
